I welcome and congratulate the honourable Prime Minister for being present here in today's programme. Today the foundation stone of Darbhanga AIIMS is being laid by the Prime Minister, this is an important occasion for all of us. With the construction of AIIMS in Darbhanga, people will get very good medical services and there will be a lot of convenience in getting treatment.
The Chief Minister said that in the year 2003, during the tenure of the then Prime Minister, respected Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, for the first time it was decided to build AIIMS in Patna, which has now been built very well. Many people go here for treatment. For the second time also in the year 2015, during the tenure of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, it was decided that another AIIMS would be built in Bihar. He said that we had also met the then Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley ji and told him that one AIIMS has been built in Patna and now another AIIMS should be built at another place in Darbhanga. We have been telling everyone from the beginning that two AIIMS should be built in Bihar. In the year 2019, when the then Union Health Minister Shri J.P. Nadda ji came to Patna, we requested him at that time also to get it constructed quickly.
The Chief Minister said that earlier we wanted that Darbhanga Medical College Hospital should be accepted as AIIMS, but due to problems in it, it was decided to build AIIMS at another place. The place where you are sitting today has been selected by the District Magistrate of Darbhanga for the construction of AIIMS. When we came here and saw, we said that this place is very good for the construction of Darbhanga AIIMS. Now the road will be widened here by the state government so that there is a lot of convenience in coming and going here. He said that after the construction of AIIMS in Darbhanga, the city will expand a lot. Everyone will get good health facilities here for treatment. It is a matter of great happiness that today the Prime Minister has come here to lay the foundation stone of Darbhanga AIIMS. I congratulate him, welcome him. Darbhanga Medical College Hospital is also being expanded by the state government. It is the second oldest hospital after Patna's PMCH. Now there will be a provision of 2500 beds here, which will make treatment easier for patients. Patna's PMCH is also being expanded, it is being made a world-class hospital so that people can get more convenience in treatment.
The Chief Minister said that we are very happy that the respected Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has come here. As we have thought about the construction of AIIMS, I am confident that the construction of AIIMS will be done very well under the supervision of the Central Government. I would request all of you present here to raise your hands to welcome the Prime Minister and congratulate him. It is a matter of great happiness that today the Prime Minister himself is laying its foundation stone. The state government will fully cooperate with the Central Government in the construction of Darbhanga AIIMS. With these words, I end my speech by congratulating Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.
