Nitish Kumar Flags Off Women's Asian Hockey Champions Trophy Gaurav Yatra in Bihar
Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar today flagged off the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy (Women) Gaurav Yatra at a function organized at 1 Anne Marg.
The Chief Minister unveiled the trophy before flagging off the Yatra. After this, the Chief Minister handed over the trophy to the girls of Eklavya Sports School accompanying the Trophy Gaurav Yatra bus. The girls of Eklavya Sports School felicitated the Chief Minister, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Sports Minister and senior officials present by presenting hockey sticks. The Chief Minister inspected the bus prepared for the Hockey Gaurav Yatra. After this, the Chief Minister flagged off the bus and inaugurated the Yatra.
It is worth noting that in the context of the International 'Women's Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024' to be held for the first time in Bihar from 11 November to 20 November 2024, the Trophy Gaurav Yatra is being taken out from 14 October to 10 November, which will pass through all the 38 districts of Bihar besides the states of Haryana, Punjab, Odisha and Jharkhand.
Women's hockey teams from India, China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Thailand are participating in the Women's Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024. All the matches of the competition will be played at the hockey ground of the International Rajgir Sports Complex. India is the winner of 2023, so the trophy is with India, which is a matter of great pride for us. The objective of the Trophy Gaurav Yatra is to make this competition, which is being held for the first time in Bihar, a success, by developing sports culture in the state and increasing the participation of women of the state in the field of sports, as well as making people aware of the pride of India's national sport hockey.
Wherever the Trophy Gaurav Yatra reaches, programs will be organized to welcome and honor the trophy with the cooperation of the local administration so that everyone's participation can be ensured in making this international competition, which is being held for the first time in Bihar, a success. Bihar has got the honor of hosting the international level sports competition 'Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024' as a positive result of the government's commitment and continuous efforts towards the all-round development of sports and players in the state and women empowerment. It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar inaugurated the International Sports Academy and Astro Turf Hockey Ground at Rajgir Sports Complex on 29 August and also unveiled the mascot and logo of Women's Asian Champions Trophy on 5 October.
On this occasion, Water Resources cum Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr. Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Sports Minister Mr. Surendra Mehta, Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Deepak Kumar, Director General of Police Mr. Alok Raj, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Dr. S. Siddharth, Principal Secretary of Sports Department Dr. B. Rajender, Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Anupam Kumar, Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Kumar Ravi, Director General of Bihar State Sports Authority Mr. Ravindra Shankar, Special Officer to Chief Minister Mr. Gopal Singh, Director of Sports Department Mr. Mahendra Kumar and other senior officers were present.
