Mayawati Calls on Modi Government to Address Rising Anti-Hindu Violence in Bangladesh Following Hasina's Ouster
The anti-reservation violence in Bangladesh leads Sheikh Hasina to resign from the post of Prime Minister and come to India. However, as soon as she was removed from power, a terrible phase of violence started in Bangladesh. Hindus and other minorities started being oppressed in the country. Now Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has issued a strong statement regarding this violence against minorities.
BSP chief and the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati has said that the violence against Hindu society and other minorities living in Bangladesh, irrespective of their caste and class, for the last few days is very sad and worrying. Mayawati has appealed to the Modi government that the central government should take this matter seriously and take appropriate steps, otherwise they may suffer more losses.
The Hindu community is also protesting on a large scale regarding the violence in Bangladesh. Along with Dhaka, there have been strong protests in Maiman Singh, Madaripur, Faridpur, Maulvibazar, Bogura, Sunamganj. People of the Du community have come out on the streets with their entire families. Carrying placards and poster banners in their hands, they are demanding the interim government to stop violence against minorities.
On the other hand, Brigadier General (Retd) M Sakhawat Hussain, Home Affairs Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, on Monday asked the protesters to deposit all illegal and unauthorized weapons by August 19, including rifles looted from agencies during the recent violence.
