India's Young Voters Hold Key to Nation's Future, Says PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged young voters to actively participate in the electoral process, highlighting their crucial role in shaping India's future as a developed nation by 2047.

Addressing first-time voters via video conferencing during "Namo Navmatdata Sammelan" on National Voters' Day, Modi emphasized the power of each vote. "Your single vote holds immense potential," he stated. "When the country has a stable government with a full majority, it empowers us to make bold decisions for national progress."

National Voters' Day, celebrated annually on January 25th, marks the Election Commission of India's foundation day and aims to encourage voter participation.

"As we strive towards becoming a developed nation by 2047," Modi said, "your vote will determine the course of India's future." He expressed pride in India's economic progress, highlighting its rise from a fragile economy to the fifth largest globally, with aspirations to reach the top three in the coming years.

Addressing concerns about nepotism in politics, Modi urged young voters to use their vote to challenge "family-centric" parties. "Earlier, news of corruption and scams dominated headlines," he recalled. "We have strived to steer the nation away from that darkness. Today, we prioritize credibility and success stories over negativity."

Outlining the government's development initiatives in the past nine years, Modi emphasized the importance of infrastructure as a driving force for growth. "From regional connectivity to communication networks, mobile towers to optical fibre, semiconductor missions to green initiatives like Mission Hydrogen, and advancements in aviation and tourism – every transformation is geared towards empowering our youth," he declared.

The Prime Minister also announced a significant solar power initiative unveiled on January 22nd, aiming to install solar rooftops in one crore homes across the country. This initiative not only promises reduced electricity bills but also guarantees government purchase of generated solar power.

Reiterating the significance of a stable government, Modi stated, "With stability, the country can tackle longstanding issues, make bold decisions, and move forward with greater resolve." He cited his government's full-majority achievements in removing Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and implementing the long-awaited one-rank, one-pension policy for ex-servicemen as examples of decisive action enabled by political stability.

Modi's address reached lakhs of first-time voters assembled at over 5,800 locations across India for "NaMo Nav Matadata Sammelans," showcasing the government's commitment to engaging young citizens in the democratic process.
