"India Should Immediately Stop Issuing Visas to Bangladeshis," Says Suvendu Adhikari

Senior West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday said that Indian authorities should immediately stop issuing visas to Bangladeshis. The Indian government should also stop issuing visas to Bangladeshis until the caretaker government of the neighbouring country releases prominent Hindu leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari.

Speaking to the media after submitting a memorandum to the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission demanding the immediate release of Das, Adhikari also demanded that imports and exports between the two countries be temporarily suspended. Imports and exports should also be stopped until steps are taken to stop atrocities on minorities there.

Suvendu Adhikari said, "You know how Hindus are tortured there (Bangladesh). This kind of atrocities cannot go on. Prabhu Chinmoy Krishna Das has not done anything wrong. We want his immediate release. False cases have been filed against him. This cannot be allowed. Enough is enough."

Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jot spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari was arrested from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday when he was about to go to Chittagong to attend a rally. On Tuesday, a Chittagong court refused to grant him bail in a sedition case and sent him to jail. Adhikari, along with seven BJP MLAs, took out a rally from Kolkata's Bindra Sadan area to the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission office and submitted a memorandum in this regard.
