India Holds All-Party Meeting to Address Bangladesh Crisis
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar Briefs Leaders Amid Chaos Following PM Sheikh Hasina's Resignation and Departure
Amid the growing violent protests in Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned and left Dhaka. The protests in Bangladesh were not stopping. There was a stir in India too over the Bangladesh crisis. Yesterday, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar informed PM Narendra Modi about the situation in the neighbouring country.
Today, the Government of India has called an all-party meeting to discuss the Bangladesh issue. The meeting is currently underway. In this meeting, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is informing the leaders of various parties about the current situation in Bangladesh. The meeting started at around 10 am in Parliament House.
Amid violent anti-reservation protests in Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's sudden resignation and leaving the country has created a situation of chaos there. Sheikh Hasina arrived in India on Monday night as part of her plan to go to London. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security on this issue on Monday.
According to the reports, no decision has yet been made on Sheikh Hasina's taking refuge in London. According to sources, she will stay in India until she gets asylum.
