India and China Reach New Agreement on LAC Patrols Ahead of 16th BRICS Summit
A major update has come out in the dispute over the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China for the last several years. Both countries have reached a new agreement to withdraw their troops on the LAC and start patrolling again. This important development happened just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Russia for the 16th BRICS Summit (BRICS Summit 2024). Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri gave information on Monday about the reduction in the border dispute with China in eastern Ladakh.
India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said about the border dispute that India and China have been in touch regarding this issue in the last few weeks. The result of this conversation was a positive agreement. The Foreign Secretary said that after a long conversation between the two countries (India and China), an agreement was reached on patrolling the LAC.
Vikram Misri said that relations between the two neighbors have been tense since the clash on the East Ladakh border in 2020. As a result, 20 Indian soldiers were martyred and an unknown number of Chinese soldiers were also killed. But, now the relations between the two countries are expected to improve. An agreement has been reached between India and China regarding patrolling on the LAC.
Let us tell you that the 16th BRICS summit is going to be held on 22-23 October. This year the BRICS summit is being organized in Kazan, Russia. Many big leaders along with Prime Minister Modi will participate in it. It is reported that Chinese President Xi Jinping will also participate in this conference. Prime Minister Modi and Xi Jinping can also hold a meeting. However, till now no information has been revealed about any meeting between the two leaders.
