Heavy rains are expected in several states on Independence Day

The nation will celebrate Independence Day tomorrow. However, rains are expected in many states including Delhi tomorrow, August 15. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan till August 18. Heavy rains may occur today and tomorrow in Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, heavy rain is forecast in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh on August 14 i.e. today.

The Meteorological Department has issued a 'yellow alert' for rain in Delhi-NCR for the next three days. The IMD has predicted cloudy skies and light to moderate rain on Wednesday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 33 and 26 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. Delhi-NCR received intermittent rains on Tuesday and the maximum temperature was recorded at 33.6 degrees Celsius, 0.6 degrees below normal.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh till August 15. Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may receive heavy rains till August 17.

Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall from August 14 to August 16. Heavy rains are likely at some places.

The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep till August 16.

Due to continuous torrential rains in Rajasthan, schools remained closed in many districts including the capital Jaipur on Tuesday as well. 22 people have died in rain-related incidents in the state in two days. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a 'red alert' i.e. a warning of very heavy rains in many areas on Wednesday as well. According to the Meteorological Centre, Jaipur, there is a strong possibility of heavy and sometimes very heavy rains in some parts of Bharatpur, Jaipur, Ajmer and Kota divisions on August 14. On August 15-16, some parts of eastern Rajasthan may receive moderate and sometimes heavy rains.
