Haryana Elections: AAP-Congress Alliance Falls Apart, AAP Releases First List of Candidates

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress will not ally for the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana. According to sources, Congress was not ready to give more than three seats to AAP in the states, while AAP had demanded seats in double digits. When no consensus was reached, both parties decided not to ally.
Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal's party also announced its candidates for 20 seats in the Haryana assembly elections. Earlier today, AAP's Haryana chief Sushil Gupta had said that if Congress fails to finalize an alliance with them, then his party will announce candidates on all 90 seats by this evening.
Sushil Gupta also told news agency PTI that every AAP worker in Haryana is ready to contest strongly on all 90 assembly seats. AAP was engaged in discussions with Congress regarding a possible alliance in the state. However, talks have reached a deadlock over seat sharing. Sources reveal that Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP is insisting on 10 seats, while Congress is ready to give only five seats.
On the release of the first list of 20 candidates for the Haryana assembly elections, AAP's Haryana chief Sushil Gupta said, "We have released the first list and soon you will get the second list. Now very little time is left. We waited honestly for the alliance because the organization is strong in every assembly and that strong organization wanted us to contest the elections. We showed our patience and after that, we released our list. We were and will remain in the India Alliance." The Haryana assembly elections are to be held on October 5 and the results will be declared on October 8. The last date for filing nominations is September 12.
