Goldie Kumari Shines at World Ability Sports Youth Games, Set to Receive PM National Bal Puraskar
Goldie Kumari of Nalanda Bihar won a gold and a bronze medal in the World Ability Sports Youth Games held in Thailand. For this excellent victory, she is also being honored with the Prime Minister National Bal Puraskar on 26 December 2024. This award will be given by the Honorable President of India in a ceremony organized on 26 December 2024. This program will be organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan New Delhi.
This spectacular success of Goldie Kumari has not only increased the honor of Bihar but has also greatly boosted the morale of other players of the state.
After last year's unforgettable World Games, the first World AbilitySport Youth Games were held in the 'land of smiles' Thailand from 1 to 7 December 2024 in which sports programs of athletics, boccia, powerlifting and table tennis were organized.
The IF Youth Games for young age groups play an important role in World AbilitySport's commitment to step into the Paralympic movement at all levels. These games will give young athletes an opportunity to make their international debut, while more experienced athletes can start their Paralympic cycle for LA 2028.
The Bihar government is committed to the all-round development of players. Last month in November, the Indian women's hockey team won the Bihar Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024 title by defeating China 1-0 at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium. The Indian team displayed discipline and excellent teamwork throughout the tournament. By successfully organizing such a big international sporting event, Bihar has established its sporting pride at the international level.
It is worth noting that this Rajgir Sports Complex of Bihar will now host the Men's Hockey Competition in 2025 as well as Khelo India Youth Games and Para Games.
Apart from this, the country's largest sports talent search competition "Mashal" is being organized in the state of Bihar, in which more than 60 lakh boys and girls from about 40 thousand government schools of the state will participate. Out of these, the successful children will be given scholarships under the government's sports scholarship scheme Prerana and will be trained and prepared for state, national and international level competitions. The aim of the Bihar government is to win medals for the country in the upcoming Olympics and for this, talent is being selected and trained right now.
