Enhanced Security Measures for RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Amid New Threat Perceptions
The security of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has been increased. Sangh chief Bhagwat has now been provided security like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Sangh chief was already getting Z Plus category security, which has been upgraded to Advance Security Liaison (ASL).
The Advance Security Liaison security is given to leaders like the President, Prime Minister and Home Minister. The Home Ministry has taken this decision after reviewing the security of Mohan Bhagwat.
The Home Ministry has increased Bhagwat's security after the input released by the IB. There was news quoting sources that the RSS chief was considered to be the target of many organizations including radical Islamic organizations. According to the report, all the states and union territories have been officially informed about the upgrade.
Under ASL, there will be involvement of local agencies like district administration, police, health and other departments related to the security and safety of the person receiving this level of security. Helicopter travel by ASL holder is permitted only in specially designed helicopters and that too as per prescribed protocols.
