Empowering Teachers: Training programme on school safety and cyber hygiene by Delhi Police and Education Department
As an extension of the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi's Samvaad program, the Delhi Police Shahdara District, Crime Branch Unit of Delhi Police in collaboration with the Director of Education Department, Delhi, Ms. Veditha Reddy, IAS jointly organized a training program for teachers in Delhi.
The program aimed to educate teachers from government and private schools on how to handle bomb threats in schools, the role of teachers in preventing drug abuse, and cyber hygiene (CyGene) awareness.
Approximately 247 teachers from the Trans Yamuna Area, Delhi participated in the program, which featured key speakers Sh. Sanjay Sain, DCP Crime Branch, Sh. Prashant Gautam, DCP Shahdara, and Sh. Anil Sharma ACP/Narcotics Crime Branch.
The primary objective of this program was to sensitize teachers about security and Cyber hygiene (CyGene) in schools. The Delhi Police and the Delhi Education Department are committed to ensuring the safety and security of our schools. This training program is an important step towards achieving this goal, and we are proud to have had the opportunity to work with the Delhi Education Department to make it a success.
The program covered a range of topics, including:
Bomb Threat Response: Teachers learned how to respond to bomb threats in schools, including evacuation procedures and communication protocols.
Substance Abuse Prevention: Teachers were educated on the role they can play in preventing substance abuse among students, including identifying warning signs and providing support.
Cyber hygiene (CyGene) Awareness: Teachers learned about the importance of Cyber hygiene (CyGene) in schools, including how to protect student data and prevent cyberbullying.
In addition, Retired ACP Sh. Prabhat Sinha, an expert in Cyber Crime, presented a detailed Power Point presentation on cyber hygiene (CyGene). He shared insights on the growing threats of cybercrime, offered practical prevention measures, and discussed case studies to highlight the challenges teenagers face in the digital world.
The session also focused on real-life case studies relating to issues faced by students concerning both cyber hygiene (CyGene) and drug abuse, providing teachers with tools to identify and address these problems effectively. “The teachers, as future influencers, have a direct impact on students. They must be well-equipped with the knowledge of current issues such as cyber hygiene (CyGene) and drug abuse to ensure the safety and well-being of their students,” said Sh. Prashant Gautam, DCP Shahdara.
The session concluded with a lecture and PowerPoint presentation on Hoaxes by Inspector Manish Kumar Verma, SHO Cyber Shahdara. His session educated teachers on identifying hoaxes, scams and other malicious online activities that can pose risks to students. The program was graced by Sh. Sanjay Sain IPS, DCP Crime and was organized by Sh. Prashant Gautam, DCP Shahdara. Sh. Sanjay Sain, DCP Crime, addressed the session with an inspiring speech, sharing his personal experiences and emphasizing the crucial role teachers play in shaping the future. Other distinguished guests, including Sh. Sudhakar, Deputy Director of Education, East Delhi and senior police officials from both Shahdara District and the Crime Branch also graced the session.
The event was warmly received by teachers, who appreciated the insightful and practical knowledge shared during the session. Teachers expressed their readiness to apply the preventive measures and safety protocols in their classrooms to create a secure learning environment for their students.
