Deputy CM Directs Enhanced Plant Protection Measures for Bihar Farmers

Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister-cum-Agriculture Minister, Bihar, Shri Vijay Kumar Sinha reviewed the schemes related to plant protection in his office room located in Krishi Bhawan, Patna. Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister gave many important directions in the interest of farmers, so that farmers can be protected from losses caused by pests and diseases and agricultural productivity in the state can be increased.
Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister-cum-Agriculture Minister said that in order to alert the farmers of the state about the possible outbreak of pests and diseases, wide publicity of forecast based information should be ensured. For this, daily newspapers, radio jingles, social media should be used from time to time, so that the information can reach the farmers on time and they can take necessary measures.
He said that to disseminate information related to plant protection schemes, hoardings and banners will be ensured in all government offices at Panchayat, Block and District level. Through this publicity, farmers will be able to get information about the correct use of pesticides, safety measures and government assistance schemes.
He laid special emphasis on the fact that most of the farmers first contact the pesticide sellers to solve the problem of pests and diseases. Therefore, the sellers should be compulsorily trained on scientific use of pesticides, possible side effects and identification of various pests. Also, the banner of the schemes of pesticide chemicals should be displayed at the establishment.
The Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister directed the pesticide inspectors appointed at the district level to regularly inspect the establishments in their area, collect samples of suspicious pesticides and analyze them in the laboratory to provide quality pesticides to the farmers. Ensure training among the farmers about the side effects of the use of pesticides. This will protect the health of the farmers and the environment.
Shri Sinha directed the officials posted in the district to ensure action under the Insecticide Act by conducting raids from time to time to prevent the sale of banned pesticides in the state.
