Deputy CM Assures Swift Aid for Bihar Farmers After Storm Damage to Crops

Honorable Deputy Chief Minister-cum-Agriculture Minister, Shri Vijay Kumar Sinha informed that due to the storm and untimely rainfall in various parts of the state in recent days, there is a possibility of damage to the crops of the farmers. On the basis of the reports received from all the districts, the government is evaluating the situation in depth and the process of necessary relief and assistance work has been expedited. We stand with the farmers of the state in both times of disaster and opportunity. In no situation will we let our food providers be harmed.

Shri Sinha informed that there is a possibility of crops standing in the fields on a large scale in the districts being affected due to strong winds and heavy rainfall. Due to which farmers may suffer financial loss. Many horticultural crops including wheat, garma moong, urad, sesame, maize, peanuts, betel leaf, pigeon pea, banana, onion are also likely to be affected due to storm and rainfall. Many of these crops were very close to harvesting, due to which farmers are likely to suffer more losses.

The Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister said that we have instructed all the district officials to immediately assess the actual crop damage by doing physical verification. On receipt of the damage report from the level of district officials, action to provide necessary assistance to the affected farmers will be taken at a fast pace.

He said that all the district agriculture officials have also been instructed to conduct a quick survey of the affected areas and make a detailed assessment of the damage and inform the headquarters soon. On this basis, the government will make arrangements for compensation and other assistance for the farmers.

The Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister said that under the able leadership of the country's respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and the Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar ji, the state government will provide all possible assistance to the farmers.

He said that farmers are our food providers and every problem of theirs is a matter of serious concern for the government. The state government is committed to providing adequate relief to the affected farmers. The priority of the government is that the farmers get proper compensation for their losses.
