Delhi's Minimum Wage Increased to All-Time High, Declares CM Atishi
The Aam Aadmi Party government of Delhi has increased the minimum wage rates. Chief Minister Atishi said on Wednesday that unskilled labourers will now get Rs 18066 per month. Semi-skilled labourers will get Rs 19929. While skilled labourers will now get Rs 21917 per month. Atishi claimed that BJP-ruled states get half the minimum wage compared to Delhi.
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi said that if you go to see the minimum wages across the country, then Arvind Kejriwal's government has given the highest minimum wages in the country. To stop the exploitation of poor people, the Delhi government has taken the minimum wage to a historic level. BJP has always done anti-poor work and we can see it in two ways. For the first time when Arvind Kejriwal's government talked about increasing the minimum wage in 2016-2017, the BJP stopped us through its Lieutenant Governor. Then the Delhi government brought an order from the court to increase the minimum wage.
CM Atishi said that the BJP strongly opposed it. As always, Arvind Kejriwal's government fought and brought a decision in favor of the common people of Delhi. If you look at the BJP-ruled states, where the minimum wage will probably be half of that of Delhi. BJP not only gives low wages in its states but also tries its best to stop it in Delhi. We are increasing the minimum wage.
Atishi said that apart from the basic facilities of good electricity, water, schools and hospitals, the Delhi government has done a historic work that was not possible in the whole country, that is to provide the highest minimum wage. The poor and daily wage workers like laborers, plumbers etc. get minimum wages. Stop exploiting them, the Delhi government has taken the minimum wage to a historic level.
