Delhi Water Crisis: Minister Hospitalized After Hunger Strike
Atishi, Delhi’s water minister, has been hospitalized following a five-day hunger strike aimed at drawing attention to the city’s escalating water crisis. The Indian capital is grappling with severe water shortages, exacerbated by an extended heatwave that has driven up consumption. Atishi was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday morning after her sugar levels fell to 36, significantly below the standard range of 70-100mg/dL.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, known by her mononym, has pointed fingers at the neighboring Haryana state for restricting the city’s water supply. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), currently in power in Haryana, has refuted these accusations. Instead, they have placed the blame squarely on the AAP government for the water crisis. The escalating situation has highlighted the political tensions surrounding resource allocation and management in the region.
