Delhi Police Hosts "Samvad" Program to Empower and Celebrate Senior Citizens

Delhi Police organized a program "Samvad" at the Bharat Ratna C. Subramaniam Auditorium, Pusa Road, New Delhi. The program was graced by the presence of Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Sh. Vinai Kumar Saxena.

The Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi interacted with senior citizens all over Delhi and distributed specially designed ID (Identity Card) cards for senior citizens. These ID cards feature a QR code that contains essential details of the bearer, including their health issues and medications. This innovative feature aims to provide critical information to emergency responders and healthcare providers, ensuring timely and effective assistance.

Two exceptional senior citizens, Sh. Roshan Lal Gupta and Colonel Y.L. Sood who embody the spirit of dedication and discipline were honored with shawls as a token of respect by the Hon'ble LG Delhi.

Shri Roshan Lal Gupta, born on June 1, 1933, is a shining example of passion and fitness. A graduate of Ramjas College, Delhi University, he excelled as an athlete during his college years. He served the nation as an Auditor in Defence and retired on May 31, 1991. What's truly inspiring is his passion for fitness, actively pursuing mountain climbing even at the age of 71, maintaining excellent health with no ailments.

Colonel Y.L. Sood, a distinguished veteran of the 1965 and 1971 wars, is a recipient of the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM). He served in three counter-insurgency tenures and dedicated himself to business and social causes after retiring in 1984.

The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi heard the senior citizens about their grievances thereafter he assured them that necessary steps would be taken to resolve their issues. Some of them also shared their experience with Delhi Police.

The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi also mentioned in his address that the Delhi Police has recently launched the Kutumb app, which has seen a remarkable response with senior citizens registering on it. In addition to the engaging sessions, the senior citizens were also provided with study materials on Alzheimer's disease, cyber health promotions, and essential safety and security tips specifically tailored for senior citizens.

Cultural program was organized for the senior citizens who were welcomed with a welcome songs sung by trainees of Delhi Police academy.

ACP Rajendra Kalkal of the Delhi Police entertained the participants with his humorous style. SI Manish Madhukar, West Distt, Delhi Police also regaled the audience with his poetry, while ACP Manoj of IFSO unit of Delhi Police sensitized the senior citizens about cybercrime, providing valuable guidance on how to stay safe online.

Sh. Sanjay Arora, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, while addressing the senior citizens suggested to keep the contact number of their beat constable and reach out to them in case of an emergency.

The program was attended by over 400 senior citizens and 150 Police personnel from all districts of Delhi. The Senior Citizen Cell, part of SPUWAC, played a crucial role in organizing the event.

Sh. Sanjay Arora, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Sh. Vivek Gogia, Spl. CP/Spl. Cell, Ms. Garima Bhatnagar, Spl CP/P&FD and Smt. Chhaya Sharma, Spl CP/Training, SPUWAC & SPUNER were on Dias along with the Hon’ble LG of Delhi.

Among seniors, Spl CsP, Jt. CsP, DCsP from various districts and units of police were also present.
