Delhi Man Arrested for Death Threat Against Purnia MP Pappu Yadav Using Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s Name
Police have arrested a man who threatened Purnia MP Pappu Yadav in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi from Delhi. Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma said a man named Mahesh Pandey has been arrested. The accused, who was arrested from Delhi, has confessed to his crime and is a resident of Delhi. The accused has also worked in AIIMS and Defense Ministry canteens.
Purnia SP said Mahesh Pandey has no connection with any gang. He has worked for some big leaders before. Mahesh conspired to threaten the MP with the SIM of his sister-in-law who lives in the UAE. The SP said there would be more revelations in the case soon. He said Mahesh Pandey was arrested from Delhi.
Police said the motive behind the death threat to Pappu Yadav was being investigated. Police also seized the mobile phone and SIM card used to threaten to kill the MP.
On October 28, MP Pappu Yadav claimed that he had received a death threat over the phone in the name of the gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. After the assassination of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai, Pappu Yadav had said on X that he would eliminate the entire network of Bishnois within 24 hours if the law allowed. He then started receiving threats over the phone. He had also filed a case in this regard.
Later, he wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding increased security. It claimed that he had received a threatening call from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Apart from seeking to upgrade his 'Y' category security to 'Z' category, the MP had also demanded police escort at all his functions across Bihar.
