Delhi Government Implements New Office Timings to Combat Rising Air Pollution
To control the rising air pollution in the national capital Delhi, the Atishi government of Delhi is continuously making many big decisions. Amid the implementation of strict rules of GRAP-3 in Delhi-NCR from today, Chief Minister Atishi gave a big instruction to the offices of the Delhi government. CM Atishi has changed the office timing of government employees and directed them to reach the office at different times. This decision has been taken to deal with the deteriorating air quality in the capital. It is expected that this step will be successful in reducing the traffic and pollution on the road.
It is worth noting that the air quality in Delhi has remained in the 'severe' category continuously for the last 3 days. At 9 am, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in many areas of Delhi was 411, which falls in the 'severe' category of 400-500. GRAP for Delhi-NCR has been divided into four stages of air quality. Stage 1 for 'poor' AQI between 201 and 300, Stage 2 for 'very poor' AQI between 301-400, Stage 3 for 'between 301-400' and 'severe' AQI between 401-450 and Stage 4 for 'severe plus' AQI above 450.
To tackle pollution, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Friday announced that government offices will work at different times to reduce congestion.
What is the new timing of government offices?
- Delhi Municipal Corporation: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
- Central Government: 9:00 am to 5:30 pm
- Delhi Government: 10:00 am to 6:30 pm
The situation worsened as dense fog engulfed the capital city, reducing visibility to just 400 meters in some areas, including Safdarjung, and contributing to poor air quality. The weather department recorded the lowest minimum temperature of the season so far in Delhi - 15.6 degrees Celsius, which was well above the usual seasonal norms.
