Court Issues Non-Bailable Warrant Against 6 Including AAP MP Sanjay Singh and SP Leader Anoop Sanda in 23-Year-Old Protest Case
The MP-MLA court of Sultanpur has issued a non-bailable warrant against 6 people including Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, Samajwadi Party national spokesperson and former MLA Anoop Sanda. This warrant is related to a 23-year-old case. The warrant order has been issued by the court of MP-MLA Special Judge Shubham Verma. Now the court will hear this case on August 20.
This case is near the Gabhadia Over Bridge of Nagar Kotwali area where 23 years ago (19 June 2001) dozens of people including Anoop Sanda and Sanjay Singh had protested over various public problems including electricity and water. It is alleged that these people had protested by blocking the road and burning an effigy.
After this, the then sub-inspector of Nagar Kotwali had registered a case against all of them. The case was going on in the MP MLA court in Diwani, in which while hearing, the court had sentenced 6 people including AAP MP Sanjay Singh and SP leader Anoop Sanda to three months' imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1500 each.
After which these people filed an appeal in the MP-MLA Special Session Court, which the court rejected and upheld the order of the lower court and ordered everyone to surrender on 9 August.
On 9 August, the presiding officer of the court was on leave, but till now all these people have not surrendered in the court. Rather, they were asking for a chance by saying that they would be present in the proceedings of the House.
In such a situation, while hearing today (13 August), the court showed strictness and refused to give them a chance and dismissed their appeal. Also, an arrest warrant was issued against all of them. That is, now all the accused including Anoop Sanda and Sanjay Singh will have to appear in the court.
