CM Nitish Kumar Reviews Progress of Patna Metro Rail Project

Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar today reviewed the progress of construction works of Patna Metro Rail Project. During this, the Chief Minister inspected the works under construction under Patna Metro Rail Project near Gandhi Maidan, PMCH and Patna University. During the inspection, the officials gave detailed information to the Chief Minister regarding the progress and updated status of Patna Metro Rail Project. Apart from this, the officials also informed the Chief Minister about the progress of construction works of Rajendra Nagar, Moinul Haq Stadium, Malahi Pakadi, Khemnichak, Pahari Par, Zero Mile Metro Station and ISBT Metro Station.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister gave many necessary guidelines to the officials. He said that the construction work of Patna Metro Rail Project should be completed expeditiously as per the action plan. After the completion of the construction work of Metro, people will get a lot of convenience in commuting, they will get relief from congestion.

It is known that the approval of Patna Metro Rail Project was given on 27 February 2019. Under this project, a total of 31.9 km of metro rail line is to be constructed, in which a total of 24 stations are proposed. This project is being implemented by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, which is being supervised by the Department of Urban Development and Housing, Government of Bihar. For the construction of the underground metro line, work was started on 21 November 2023 from Gandhi Maidan station with TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine), which has reached Patna station via Akashvani underground station. The target has been set to complete the construction work on priority basis on Patna Metro Line (total 6.01 km) from Malahi Pakadi to Khemnichak, Bhootnath Road, Zeromile, Pataliputra Bus Terminal. The target is to start this line by 15 August 2025.

On this occasion, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Deepak Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. S. Siddharth, Secretary of Urban Development and Housing Department Mr. Abhay Kumar Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Kumar Ravi, District Magistrate of Patna Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Avkash Kumar and other senior officers of Patna Metro Rail Project were present.
