CM Atishi's First Press Conference: A Call to Reinstate Arvind Kejriwal as Chief Minister
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi Marlena took oath as the third woman Chief Minister of Delhi on Saturday. After Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post of Chief Minister, Atishi took oath as Chief Minister at Raj Bhavan, the residence of the Lieutenant Governor. Along with her, five Delhi Cabinet ministers Saurabh Bhardwaj, Gopal Rai, Kailash Gehlot, Imran Hussain and Mukesh Ahlawat took oath as ministers. After taking oath as the youngest Chief Minister of Delhi, CM Atishi held her first press conference in which she appealed to the people of Delhi for former CM Kejriwal.
CM Atishi said, “First of all I want to thank Arvind Kejriwal for trusting me and entrusting me with such a big responsibility. Today I have taken oath as Chief Minister but this is a very emotional moment for me and all of us when Arvind Kejriwal is not the Chief Minister of Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal is the person who changed the face of Delhi in 10 years, gave free electricity to the people of Delhi, gave good education to the children of Delhi… gave good treatment… today when he is not the Chief Minister, it is an emotional moment for all of us.”
The Delhi CM further said, “Today he is not the Chief Minister because the BJP filed false cases against him… but he did not break down, did not get suppressed… Arvind Kejriwal resigned setting an example of honesty and morality in the politics of this country… now all of us Delhiites have to come together and make Arvind Kejriwal the Chief Minister of Delhi again in the elections to be held in February… I assure you that now Arvind Kejriwal is out of jail, the sewers will be fixed in Delhi, water problems will be fixed and roads will be fixed. I want to assure the people of Delhi that now Arvind Kejriwal is out of jail, now we will not let any conspiracy of BJP succeed. Now we all have to do only one thing. Arvind Kejriwal has to be made the Chief Minister of Delhi again.”
