CBI Launches Corruption Probe Against Former Principal Sandeep Ghosh Amid Kolkata Rape-Murder Case
Former Principal Ghosh Faces Allegations of Financial Misconduct Following Calcutta High Court's Directive
The sensational Kolkata Rape-Murder case has taken a new turn after the prime accused Sanjoy Roy turned in his statement. On the other hand, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandeep Ghosh, seems to be surrounded from all sides. The Anti-Corruption Branch of the Central Investigation Agency (CBI) has now registered an FIR against Sandeep Ghosh for financial irregularities after the order of a single bench of the Calcutta High Court.
The CBI has also started investigating corruption by registering an FIR against Sandeep Ghosh. On the orders of the Calcutta High Court, the SIT went to the CBI office at Nizam Palace on Saturday morning and submitted all the documents.
According to media reports, after receiving the documents, the CBI registered an FIR against Sandeep Ghosh in the corruption case. The CBI has already submitted today's FIR copy to the Alipore CJM court.
It is worth noting that after the order of a single bench of the Calcutta High Court last Friday, CBI officials and a CBI lawyer submitted a copy of an FIR before the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Alipore Court in the corruption case against the former Principal of RG Kar Medical College Sandeep Ghosh. Former Principal Sandeep Ghosh has been in controversies since the rape and brutal murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital.
Now the CBI has also started an investigation into the financial irregularities in the medical college during his tenure. Following the instructions of the Calcutta High Court, the CBI took over the investigation of corruption from the Special Investigation (SIT) constituted by the state.
According to the information received, the complaint of corruption against Sandeep Ghosh was made by Akhtar Ali, former Deputy Superintendent of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, while hearing his petition, the Calcutta High Court ordered the transfer of investigation of this case to the CBI. Akhtar Ali, in his petition, had requested the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to investigate the alleged financial misconduct in the institute.
