Braveheart Subedar Kuldeep Chand martyred while foiling infiltration bid in J&K

Jammu, Apr 12: In a brave and selfless act, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army, Subedar Kuldeep Chand of 9 PUNJAB, was martyred while leading a counter-infiltration operation in the Keri Battal area of the Sunderbani Sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a post by the Army’s White Knight Corps on X, “The GOC White Knight Corps and all ranks salute the supreme sacrifice of Braveheart Subedar Kuldeep Chand. He laid down his life in the line of duty, gallantly leading from the front to foil a terrorist infiltration attempt on the night of April 11.”
His courageous leadership and his team’s swift response thwarted the terrorists’ bid to infiltrate Indian territory. The Army extended its deepest condolences to his family, stating, “We stand in solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of grief.”
This act of heroism comes at a time when security forces across Jammu and Kashmir are actively engaged in operations to eliminate terrorist threats along the LoC and in interior regions. In another related incident, three terrorists were gunned down in a fierce encounter in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district.
The Army’s Northern Command confirmed that two Pakistani terrorists were neutralized during the ongoing operation, despite extremely adverse weather conditions. A significant cache of arms and ammunition, including an AK rifle and an M4 carbine, was recovered from the site.
Earlier in the same operation, which began on April 9, one terrorist had already been eliminated, but after a brief lull, fresh firing resumed, leading to the killing of two more terrorists. The operation continues, with security forces maintaining a high-alert presence in the region.
This encounter is believed to be part of an extended offensive stemming from intelligence inputs about terrorist movements in the forested terrain of Kishtwar and Udhampur districts. A joint cordon and search operation (CASO) was launched by the Army, Police, and intelligence agencies, which initially triggered the exchange of fire with the militants.
The ongoing offensives in Sunderbani and Kishtwar reflect the relentless efforts of Indian security forces to safeguard national security and thwart cross-border terrorism. As drones and surveillance tools continue to monitor the affected zones, the commitment and sacrifice of bravehearts like Subedar Kuldeep Chand stand as a testament to the Army’s unwavering resolve.
