Bihar’s Republic Day Tableau 2025 to Showcase Rich Heritage and Modern Development
Addressing a press conference organized in the 'Samvad' room of the Information Bhawan today on January 14, 2025, Hon'ble Minister Shri Maheshwar Hazari said in the context of the tableau of Kartavya Path Bihar in New Delhi on the occasion of Republic Day, 26 January, that this year on the occasion of Republic Day Celebration-2025, the tableau of Bihar Government has been selected for display on the occasion of Republic Day Parade on the path of duty by the Ministry of Defense, Government of India on the theme of 'Swarnim Bharat Heritage and Development', the theme set for the tableau.
The tableau of Bihar state has displayed the rich tradition of knowledge and peace of Bihar. Since ancient times, Bihar has been a land of knowledge, salvation and peace. Lord Buddha has been displayed in the tableau giving the message of peace. This supernatural statue of Lord Buddha is located in the Ghoda Katora reservoir in Rajgir, where lakhs of tourists come every year. With this supernatural and grand statue of Lord Buddha of 70 feet height made of a single stone installed in the year 2018, the development of Ghoda Katora Lake is Bihar's first step in the field of eco-tourism. This is a unique effort of the government.
Bihar has a very rich historical and cultural heritage. The tableau also shows the ruins of the ancient Nalanda Mahavihara (university), which are a testimony to the fact that students from distant countries like China, Japan and Central Asia used to come here to acquire knowledge. The ruins of Nalanda University are a symbol of the knowledge tradition of ancient India. Conservation and promotion of these ruins
is very important for preserving the heritage of Indian culture. The efforts being made by the Bihar government are restoring the ancient glory of Nalanda. This site is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Bihar government is constantly working towards preserving the cultural, spiritual and natural heritage of Bihar. Along with preserving the ruins of ancient Nalanda and other heritages as tangible cultural heritage, integrated development of that area is also being ensured so that more and more tourists come here and get acquainted with the heritage of Bihar.
With a view to reestablishing ancient Nalanda as a centre of knowledge, International Nalanda University has been established in Rajgir itself. This modern structure based on the architecture of ancient Nalanda University depicts the concept of Sariputra Stupa, Gopuram entrance and traditional veranda. With these structures built from the point of view of environmental protection, this university has been established as a carbon neutral and Net Zero campus. The newly constructed Nalanda University was inaugurated by the Honorable Prime Minister of India in the presence of the Honorable Chief Minister of Bihar on 19.06.2024. Towards realizing the concept of development with heritage, the Government of Bihar has also established Rajgir Sports Complex and Bihar Sports University in Nalanda. This year, Bihar Women's Asian Champions Trophy was successfully organized in Rajgir Sports Complex, which was highly appreciated at national and international level.
Through the tableau, Bihar Government has tried to show the ancient heritage of Gyanbhoomi Nalanda and the efforts being made by the state government for its preservation. Also, the effort to re-establish Bihar on the global map of education through the establishment of Nalanda University has been shown. Apart from this, the unique effort of Bihar Government to develop Ghodha Katora Lake as an eco tourism site with the supernatural and grand statue of Lord Buddha has also been shown.
