Bihar’s Power Companies Achieve Historic ₹1,574 Crore Treasury Contribution

A historic achievement has been registered under effective management and revenue collection by the distribution companies of the state. On this important achievement, the Energy Minister said that the distribution companies of our state have deposited revenue of Rs 1574 crore in the government treasury this year, which is the largest contribution of power companies so far. This shows that our power companies are moving forward with smooth operation and efficient financial management.
He informed that Rs 1513 crore was deposited by the power companies as electricity duty under Commercial Tax in the financial year 2024-25. Apart from this, Rs 61 crore has also been deposited under GST. This collection rate is the result of consumer awareness, effective billing system and transparent management.
The Energy Minister also informed that due to better management and efficiency increase by the distribution companies of the state this year, the need for government grants under the head of AT&C loss in the financial year 2023-24 and 2024-25 has been eliminated. This has also reduced the burden on the financial resources of the state government.
Describing this achievement as a symbol of progress in Bihar's energy sector, the Energy Minister said that earlier the power companies were completely dependent on the grants and financial support of the State Government. Now they have not only become financially self-reliant but are also making significant contribution to the state treasury.
He said that the State Government is committed to ensure uninterrupted, quality and affordable power supply to the electricity consumers. This financial discipline and increase in revenue will help us to further strengthen the power infrastructure in future. This has been possible due to the hard work and commitment of the officers and employees of the distribution companies and the cooperation of the consumers.
