Bihar’s Ground-Connected Solar Power Project Advances: 7,000 Government Buildings Equipped with Solar Panels

In order to promote green energy in Bihar, under the Ground Connected PhotoSolar Power Project 65 MW, solar power plants are to be installed on 12,000 government buildings. Under this project, so far, installation of solar panels has been completed on 7,000 buildings.

The progress of the project was reviewed by Energy Secretary and CMD, Bihar State Power Housing Company Limited, Shri Pankaj Kumar Pal. Director of ERDA Dr. Nilashe Devre and senior officers were present in the meeting. In the meeting, he directed all the working agencies to complete the work within the stipulated time frame and complete the work of installation of solar panels, net metering and connecting it to the billing cycle as soon as possible.

During the review meeting, the Energy Secretary directed the officials of the IEDA to use infrared cameras to ensure the quality of the work done by all the agencies and the materials used. He also asked them to ensure that the installation and quality of the solar power plants is as per the high quality standards.

Along with this, he said that in the buildings where STD meters have not been installed till now, they should be installed immediately. He also directed that before making any payment, the HRD officials should ensure that the commissioned VTS are live on the RMS portal.

Apart from this, the functionality of each VTS should be verified to ensure that it is producing at least four units of kilowatt solar energy in a month. For example, a 5 kW solar power plant should be producing at least 20 units of solar power 1-2 times per day.

Ground Connected Rooftop Solar Power Project 65 MW is a big step towards fulfilling the energy requirements of government buildings in Bihar through solar energy.

This project will not only reduce the cost of electricity, but will also play an important role in protecting the environment. The Energy Secretary directed all the agencies to complete this important project in a timely manner and stressed on taking concrete steps to ensure its success.
