Bihar Water Resources Minister Reviews ₹50 Crore Plus Flood Protection and Irrigation Projects
Water Resources Minister Shri Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, in a meeting held at Irrigation Bhawan on Saturday, reviewed in detail the updated progress of all the schemes costing more than Rs 50 crore implemented by the Water Resources Department for flood protection and irrigation facilities in Bihar, as well as the allocation and expenditure status for them. During this, he gave necessary guidelines to complete all the schemes on time.
The Water Resources Minister said that maximum use of river water available in the state is among the top priorities of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The officials of the Water Resources Department should ensure proportional expenditure of the budget allocation for the schemes for flood protection and expansion of irrigation facilities. If there is any kind of obstacle in the timely implementation of these schemes, then identify it and get it removed on priority basis. Instructions were given to take action against those schemes whose contractors are not working as per the prescribed timeline. Along with this, instructions were given to do intensive monitoring of compliance of the instructions given by the department.
All the senior officers including Principal Secretary Santosh Kumar Mall, Additional Secretary Naveen, Chief Engineer of Flood Control Manoj Raman and Chief Engineer of Irrigation Creation Nand Kumar Jha, Chief Engineer of Planning and Monitoring Sanjay Kumar Ojha were present in the review meeting.
