Bihar Revenue Department Publishes Kaithi Script Booklet to Ease Land Document Translation
Due to the past survey khatian and many old documents being written in Kaithi script in the state, common peasants as well as survey workers were facing many difficulties in the special survey process. In view of these problems, the Revenue Department decided to publish a booklet related to Kaithi script. This booklet is also available on the departmental website.
People used to take help of private persons or old government employees to convert documents written in old Kaithi into Hindi script and sometimes unnecessary amount was also recovered from them for this. Most of the people had raised their problems in this regard in the department and regional offices. In light of this, the department decided to publish this booklet.
Revenue and Land Reforms Department Minister Dr. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal unveiled this booklet written in Kaithi script in his office room. On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department Mr. Deepak Kumar Singh, Secretary Mr. Jai Singh, Land Records and Measurement Director Mrs. J. Priyadarshini were present. With the help of this booklet, even the common raiyat can get information about this script and can view his revenue documents. For this work, the services of Shri Pritam Kumar, a research student of Banaras Hindu University, were taken.
The three-day training program has been given by the department to the special survey personnel posted in the settlement offices of 7 districts namely West Champaran, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Siwan, Saran, Munger and Jamui. The department has also prepared a program to provide training in all other districts of the state. This step taken by the department will benefit all those raiyats of the state who have old documents related to land ownership written in Kaithi script and on the basis of that, the ownership of their land is to be determined in the current survey process.
