Bihar Minister Dr. Prem Kumar Visits Tamil Nadu to Study Forest and Environmental Initiatives

Dr. Prem Kumar, Minister of Cooperatives Department and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, Government of Bihar visited Guindy National Park and Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Chennai. During this, the Minister was given a grand welcome by Srinivas Reddy, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) of Tamil Nadu Forest and Environment Department and IFS officer Dilip Kumar.

The Minister was apprised of various government schemes and activities going on in the forest and environment sector in Tamil Nadu. He appreciated the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and CER (Corporate Environment Responsibility) models successfully implemented in Tamil Nadu and directed the concerned departmental officials of Bihar to ensure their implementation in Bihar.

Along with this, while discussing the schemes run by the World Bank and JICA, the Minister emphasized the possibilities of implementing such schemes in Bihar. He described the functioning of the Tamil Nadu government as “best practices” and emphasized the need to adopt them in Bihar.

The minister invited Tamil Nadu officials to visit Bihar so that there can be exchange of experience and expertise between the two states. Dr. S Kumaraswamy (IFS), Forest and Environment Department of Bihar, Cooperative Department officials Mr. Lalan Kumar Sharma, Mr. Shirendra Narayan, Mr. Safdar Rahmani and Mr. Anadi Shankar also participated in this study tour.
