Bihar Education Department releases new transfer policy for primary and secondary school teachers

The Education Department of CM Nitish Kumar-led Bihar Government has issued new guidelines for the transfer and posting of regular teachers and school instructors working in primary, secondary and higher secondary schools in the state. According to a notification issued on November 4, 2024, these guidelines have been brought to smoothly implement the teacher transfer process. Teachers appointed under Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) and other prescribed procedures can now apply online for transfer through the e-Shikshakosh portal.

Bihar Director of Primary Education, Pankaj Kumar, has directed all District Education Officers and Program Officers to implement these guidelines and inform the eligible teachers. Teachers appointed under the 2023 Bihar School Specific Teacher Rules who have passed the proficiency test are eligible to apply for transfer through the e-Shikshakosh portal.

As part of the transfer process, teachers will login to the portal with their teacher ID and fill up the detailed application form. The portal will guide teachers through steps such as OTP verification and choosing school preferences for transfer locations. The last date to apply is November 22, and the process of transfer posting is likely to be completed by December 2024. The initiative, which involves a random selection of schools within the chosen preferences, seeks to ensure fair distribution of teaching resources in Bihar's educational institutions.

These moves reflect the department's efforts to balance the distribution of staff in the state's schools and improve educational quality.
