Bihar Education Department Enforces Dress Code and Conduct Guidelines for School Staff
The Education Department of the CM Nitish Kumar-led Government of Bihar has issued a new guideline for all the schools and educational institutions of the state, emphasizing the need to maintain decent behavior and dignified environment. In this order sent by Director (Administration)-cum-Additional Secretary of the Education Department, Subodh Kumar Chaudhary, teachers and non-teaching staff have been instructed to wear formal dress.
This instruction has been given in reference to the memorandum issued by the General Administration Department, Bihar in 2019. The department has found that many teachers and employees come to the school premises in informal clothes like jeans and T-shirts, which is against the office culture. Along with this, information has also been received about activities like dance, DJ and disco being conducted in some schools through social media. Such conduct has been described as harmful to the educational environment and has been considered unacceptable.
The Education Department has clarified that disciplined and decent programs like dance and music will be allowed only on special days as per the education calendar. Additionally, teachers and staff have been asked to ensure that they attend school hours in formal attire.
This step has been taken with the aim of maintaining a positive and dignified atmosphere in the schools of the state, so that a disciplined and inspiring environment can be provided to the students.
The Education Department has directed all the District Education Officers to ensure strict compliance of this order.
