Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Reviews Rural Works Department's Progress

Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar held a review meeting of the Rural Works Department at 'Sankalp' located at 1 Anne Marg and gave necessary guidelines to the officials. In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary of Rural Works Department, Shri Deepak Kumar Singh gave detailed information through presentation regarding the scheme-wise updated status of rural roads and bridges.

The Additional Chief Secretary of the Rural Department said that work is being done at a fast pace to provide connectivity in the left out settlements. He gave updated information about the Chief Minister Gram Sampark Yojana and other state schemes, Rural Tola Sampark Nishchay Yojana, renovation and upgradation work of rural paths etc. He also gave detailed information about the physical and financial status and requirement of departmental schemes in the financial year 2024-25.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister said that after coming to power in the year 2005, we have constructed better roads and bridges in the state. Our aim is not only to construct better roads and bridges but its good maintenance is equally important. He said that ensure better maintenance of rural roads. If the engineers of the department work responsibly for the construction and maintenance of roads, then better roads will be constructed and the roads will also be maintained.

The Chief Minister said that better roads make movement of people easier. Whatever resources are required to improve the roads in the state will be met. The Rural Works Department should also complete the construction work of roads for the remaining tolas soon so that their connectivity can be facilitated.

Assess the roads in rural areas that need renovation/upgradation and work on it quickly. Get the reconstruction work of damaged roads done quickly. Complete the construction work of Chief Minister Rural Tola Sampark Yojana and other under-construction roads quickly. Complete the construction of new bridges in place of the missing/damaged bridges on rural roads where they need to be constructed. The Chief Minister, in view of the utility of the Chief Minister's Bridge Construction Scheme in rural areas, directed to restart it.

Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Samrat Choudhary, Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr. Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Rural Works Minister Mr. Ashok Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Deepak Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. S. Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary of Rural Works Department Mr. Deepak Kumar Singh, Secretary of Finance Department Mr. Lokesh Kumar Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Anupam Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Kumar Ravi, Special Officer to the Chief Minister Mr. Gopal Singh and senior engineers of Rural Works Department were present in the meeting.
