Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Leads High-Level Review of Home Department

Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar held a high-level review meeting of the Home Department at 'Sankalp' located at 1 Anne Marg and gave necessary guidelines to the officials.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister was informed about the updated status of the work being done by the Home Department by the Principal Secretary of the Home Department, Shri Arvind Kumar Chaudhary. He informed that land related matters are being resolved through continuous monitoring through the Bhu-Samadhan portal, due to which land disputes are decreasing. Earlier, 60 percent of the murders were due to land disputes, now it has come down to 46.69 percent. Various proposals related to the Home Department were also discussed in the meeting.

During the review, the Chief Minister gave instructions that law and order is the top priority of the government. Do not show any kind of laxity in crime control. Do not show any kind of negligence in patrolling, intensify night patrolling. To make night and foot patrolling more effective, senior officials should go to the area and do surprise inspection at night themselves. Everyone should work with full dedication in maintaining law and order. The Chief Minister said that strict action will be taken against the police personnel who are negligent in their work. He said that speed up the crime investigation work and complete it on time so that action can be taken against the culprits soon. To maintain law and order, the police and administration should work diligently and take strict action to control crime.

The Chief Minister said that to increase the number of Bihar Police, 2,29,139 posts have been approved in various categories. 1,06,436 policemen are working. Fill the remaining vacant posts soon. Police has an important role in maintaining law and order. Filling the remaining posts as soon as possible will help in maintaining law and order. We have made a provision of 35 percent reservation for women in the police since the year 2013. Currently, the number of women in Bihar Police has increased to about 30 thousand. The participation of women in Bihar Police is the highest in the country. He said that the vacancies on the 35 percent reserved seats for women in police recruitment should be filled soon.

The Chief Minister said that due to the increase in the number of women in the police force, the women who come to the police stations with complaints are getting relief in resolving their problems and their confidence is increasing. Keeping in mind the facilities of women officers and women police personnel, separate arrangements have been made. After coming to power in the year 2005, we have done development work in all areas. Along with educating women, many works have also been done to make them self-reliant. Women have become educated and self-reliant, which has brought positive change in society and family.

The Chief Minister said that more than 60 percent of murders happen due to land disputes, which is now decreasing. It has been informed that it has become 46.69 percent, which is a good thing. He said that the work of land survey and settlement should be completed quickly so that the incidents of crime related to land disputes can be completely reduced. The administration and police should keep a close watch on anti-social elements.
