Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Inspects Under-Construction Eye Hospital at IGIMS, Directs Speedy Completion
Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today inspected the under-construction eye hospital at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna and directed officials to complete the remaining work at a faster pace.
During his visit, the Chief Minister inspected various facilities, including the OPD, ward area, operation theater room, and general ward, on the first floor of the hospital. Health Department Principal Secretary Pratyay Amrit briefed the Chief Minister about the project, stating that the 154-bed eye hospital, being built at a cost of Rs 188 crore, will be a state-of-the-art facility.
The hospital will have specialized facilities for cornea and refractive surgery, glaucoma, retina, and uvea treatment, as well as pediatric and neuro-ophthalmology services. It will also have a 24-hour emergency service and will be the largest government eye hospital in eastern India.
Under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, Bihar has witnessed significant development in various sectors, including healthcare, education, infrastructure, and agriculture. Some of the key initiatives include:
- Launching the "Har Ghar Bijli Lagtaar" scheme to provide electricity to every household in the state
- Implementing the "Jal Jeevan Hariyali" mission to provide clean drinking water and promote afforestation
- Establishing new medical colleges and hospitals, including the IGIMS eye hospital, to improve healthcare facilities
- Introducing the "Bihar Student Credit Card" scheme to provide financial assistance to students for higher education
- Promoting agriculture and entrepreneurship through various initiatives, including the "Bihar Startup Policy"
