Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Conducts On-Site Inspection of Rising Ganga Water Levels

Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar inspected the rising water level of Ganga river around Patna by road. During this, he inspected the rising water level of Ganga river from Digha Ghat to Kangan Ghat of J.P. Ganga Path. During the inspection, the Chief Minister stopped at Kangan Ghat, Gandhi Ghat and Krishna Ghat of J.P. Ganga Path and saw the condition of the areas around Ganga river and took detailed information from the officials.

The Chief Minister also took information about the approach road under construction at Krishna Ghat connecting Ashok Rajpath to J.P. Ganga Path and directed to complete the construction quickly.

During the inspection of the rising water level of the Ganga river, the Chief Minister directed the District Magistrate of Patna to remain fully alert and keep all preparations in mind keeping in mind the rising water level in the areas along the Ganga river.

Keep reviewing the situation continuously and take necessary action quickly. During the inspection, the Chief Minister reached Hajipur via Gandhi Setu and took stock of the flood relief camp built in Hajipur. The Chief Minister talked to the people staying in the flood relief camp and took detailed information about the arrangements there.

While giving instructions to the District Magistrate of Vaishali district in the flood relief camp, the Chief Minister said that all the facilities of the people staying in the relief camps should be taken care of. The situation should be continuously monitored.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister, seeing the damage caused to the banana crop due to the flood, instructed the officials that the farmers should be given adequate compensation for the damage caused to the banana crop. He said that the Agriculture Department should conduct a survey of this and ensure appropriate action.

While instructing the officers during the inspection, the Chief Minister said that the Water Resources Department should be fully alert and keep monitoring continuously. In the low lying areas where water is rising, keep a close eye on the possible situations. The District Magistrate should keep monitoring continuously. He said that the engineers should be fully alert and senior officers should keep camping at the site.

The Disaster Management Department should keep monitoring continuously as to what else needs to be done so that people do not face any problem. In case of flood, full assistance should be provided to the affected people as per the SOP. Disaster victims have the first right on the government treasury.
