Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Union Minister J.P. Nadda Inaugurate Regional Eye Institute at IGIMS

Bihar Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar and Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Shri J.P. Nadda today inaugurated the newly constructed Regional Eye Institute at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) campus at Rs 188 crore. At the inauguration ceremony, both the leaders unveiled the plaque and inaugurated the institute by cutting the ribbon. After this, the Chief Minister inspected the institute, in which he observed the OPD, ward area, operation theater, and other facilities.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the Union Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various projects worth Rs 850 crore under the Health Department through remote. These also include the recently constructed Health University building.

Addressing the program, the Chief Minister said, "IGIMS was established in 1984. After coming to power in the year 2005, we paid special attention to the improvement of this institute. Modern facilities were expanded in the institute, which includes an Eye Bank, Kidney Transplant Unit, and Cardiac Centre. Today, in this series, the Regional Eye Institute has been inaugurated." The Chief Minister further informed that earlier there was a fee for medicines and tests in IGIMS, but now it has become completely free. He said that the work of increasing the number of beds to 2,500 is going on at a fast pace, and in the coming time, more than 3,000 beds will be arranged in the institute.

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda also praised the development of the institute on this occasion and informed about inspecting the land marked for AIIMS in Darbhanga.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Samrat Choudhary, Health Minister Shri Mangal Pandey, Water Resources Minister Shri Vijay Kumar Choudhary, MP Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad and other dignitaries were present at the function.
