Patna: In a first for Bihar, the "bulldozer punishment" has been meted out to an accused charged with the rape and murder of a minor Dalit girl. The Muzaffarpur police razed to the ground the house of muscleman Sanjay Yadav at Gopalpur village under Paru police station.

On Friday, police had put out a notice on the house asking Sanjay to surrender within 12 hours. His property was attached by police on orders of the court.

Sanjay Yadav, a 45-year-old man, is accused of kidnapping the minor Dalit girl and criminally assaulting her. A highly mutilated body of the girl was recovered on August 12.

The mother of the deceased, in her complaint with the police, had named Sanjay as the main accused and alleged that he was putting pressure on her daughter to marry. However, the girl refused, according to the complaint. She claimed that Sanjay was already married.
