Bihar Accelerates Development of World-Class Rajgir Cricket Stadium and Sports Infrastructure

Secretary of Building Construction Department, Bihar, Mr. Kumar Ravi inspected the construction work of International Sports Academy cum Cricket Stadium located at Rajgir. During this, he reviewed the physical progress in the construction work of the cricket stadium and took stock of the updated status.

The Secretary discussed in detail about cricket pitch, lighting, drainage system, pavilion, seating area for spectators, dressing room, display screen, parking, toilet etc. and gave directions to the concerned officials and agencies to expedite the work. He had a detailed discussion with the curator of Bihar Cricket Association present on the spot regarding the preparation of the cricket pitch. Information was also taken about the drainage system.

The curator informed the Secretary that 9 cricket pitches can be prepared in Rajgir Cricket Stadium. Apart from this, 4-5 pitches can be made for the practice of players. The Secretary said that the BCCI curator will be contacted to prepare an international level pitch. The maintenance of the stadium was also discussed. The agency was also directed to increase the work force to expedite the work of the cricket stadium.

The Secretary has informed that work is going on at a fast pace to make the Rajgir Cricket Stadium world-class. For this, coordination is being established with BCCI and others. The target is to complete the work of the structure of the stadium by March next year. The cricket stadium will be ready for matches by June 2025. Weekly inspection is being done regarding the construction of the stadium as per international standards. The cricket stadium equipped with state-of-the-art facilities is being constructed on a 72843 square meter plot. This stadium will have seating arrangements for 40,000 spectators.

After this, he took stock of the physical progress of the multipurpose hall for the international event of Kabaddi, Khelo India Youth Games and Para Games - 2025 to be held at Rajgir Sports Academy. The World Cup Women's Kabaddi Championship is proposed to be held in March 2025, in which teams from many countries will participate. The secretary has directed that the multipurpose hall should be ready by 15 February. He also directed to increase the work force for this. The officials were directed to hold review meetings daily. 5-6 games including Kabaddi are to be organized in the multipurpose hall.

The secretary also inspected the swimming pool, cycling track and other sports venues. He talked about completing the sports related infrastructure at a fast pace. He said that the development of sports related infrastructure in the state will increase the interest of the young generation towards sports. The youth will get quality help at the local level itself. Sports infrastructure will be developed on priority.

The secretary met the players of various sports taking training in the sports academy. During this, he encouraged the players and wished them all the best. On this occasion, Director General of Bihar State Sports Authority Ravindra Shankar, Director of Sports Department Mr. Mahendra Kumar, District Magistrate of Nalanda Mr. Shashank Shubhankar along with senior officers and engineers of the Building Construction Department were present.
