Bhagalpur Engineering College Clash: Authorities Assure Control, Strengthen Anti-Ragging Measures

The recent clash among students at Bhagalpur Engineering College, which garnered widespread attention in the media, has been described as a regrettable and unacceptable incident by the Director-cum-Special Secretary of the Department of Science, Technology, and Technical Education. Addressing the media, the Director assured all stakeholders that the situation is now under control, with academic activities and routine work resuming systematically. The condition of those injured in the altercation has also shown significant improvement, and the department is in constant contact with the institution's principal, faculty, and students to address concerns.

In an immediate response to the incident, the department dispatched two senior officers to Bhagalpur to assess the ground situation. Additionally, regular communication via video conferencing has been established with the college’s principal and faculty to ensure the smooth functioning of the institution. Specific instructions have been issued to strengthen the Anti-Ragging Squad within the campus and to intensify monitoring efforts, particularly in hostel premises. Advanced surveillance measures, including CCTV monitoring and GPS-enabled inspections at night, are being implemented to prevent such incidents in the future.

The department has emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and has reiterated that strict punitive action will be taken against those involved in such activities.
