American Couple's 8-Year Wait Ends as They Adopt Child in Bihar's Saran District

Monday was a day of happiness for the couples who aspire to have children amidst the hustle and bustle of life. The adoption process of a child was completed by the Saran district administration. DDC Priyanka Rani handed over the child to his family in her office room. As soon as the adoption process was completed, the child was handed over to his new parents, during which the faces of the couples lit up and they emotionally thanked the district administration.

The child was adopted by an American couple. They had applied online on the CARA portal in 2015 to adopt a child. After their number came and they went through the entire process, the final adoption process was completed on Monday. It is known that the adoption of children is done through Vishisht Adoption Institute, Saran, run by the District Child Protection Unit under the Social Welfare Department. In the institute, orphan children are nurtured to the fullest by keeping them under full security and facilities.

On this occasion, Assistant Director Child Protection Unit in charge, Pooja Kumari, Child Protection Officer (CPO) Pankaj Prasad, Coordinator Kahkashan Rashid, Deepanshu Raj etc. were present.

Know what are the rules for adopting children

Any couple whose physical and mental condition is strong can be eligible to adopt a child. If they have lived a stable married life for at least two years and mutual consent of both is necessary for adoption. Couples of different ages are eligible for children of different ages. To adopt a child, registration has to be done on the website carings.wcd.gov.in of Central Adoption Resource Authority. After investigation, the child is given for adoption to the parents eligible to adopt. Only a boy can be given for adoption to a single male parent. Whereas both a boy and a girl can be given for adoption to a single female parent. Couples with two children are not eligible to adopt a normal child. They can only adopt a child with special needs. Adopting and giving away a child through any other means in the country is a legal offense.
