AAP will retain power in Delhi by winning more seats than in 2020: Arvind Kejriwal
All parties are devising strategies to ensure their victory in the assembly elections to be held in Delhi next year. Meanwhile, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday (December 5) claimed that his party will retain power in Delhi after the assembly elections next year, repeating the historic mandate of the last election.
According to a report, Arvind Kejriwal, in East Delhi's Vishwas Nagar constituency, expressed confidence that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will get more seats than it got in the 2020 assembly elections in the capital. Attacking the BJP, he said, "No development has been seen in the Vishwas Nagar constituency. There is an AAP government in Delhi, the local MLA is from BJP."
Elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly are to be held in February 2025. Kejriwal said, "In 2015, AAP won 67 seats and BJP won only three seats. In the next election in 2020, AAP won 62 seats and BJP won eight seats. On both occasions, his party could not win the Vishwas Nagar seat. There is a BJP MLA here for the last 10 years.''
He further said, "Aam Aadmi Party has done a lot of work in Delhi but there is no mohalla clinic in Vishwas Nagar, CCTV cameras have not been installed and no elderly person from here has gone on a free pilgrimage.'' Vishwas Nagar seat is held by BJP's OP Sharma since 2013 amid the AAP wave in the capital. The former CM said, "He (OP Sharma) fights a lot but is unable to get work done.
Addressing a gathering, Arvind Kejriwal said, "If you want an MLA who can get your work done, vote for AAP. If they vote for BJP again, no work will be done. The whole of Delhi is saying that Aam Aadmi Party is coming to power again.''
He said the number of seats could be even more than last time and claimed that if BJP comes to power, free facilities like electricity and bus travel for women will stop. Kejriwal also said that the AAP government will soon start giving a monthly amount of Rs 1,000 to women in Delhi. will launch a scheme to provide this and this money will be deposited in their bank accounts.
