9,888 New Appointees Join Bihar's Land Survey Mission
In a significant move to expedite the state's land survey process, the Bihar government distributed appointment letters to 9,888 new recruits in the Revenue and Land Reforms Department. The main ceremony took place on Wednesday at 'Samvad' in the Chief Minister's Secretariat, Patna, with simultaneous events across all districts.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar personally handed over appointment letters to 20 candidates, while Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dr. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal presented letters to 5 candidates. The remaining appointees received their letters from ministers-in-charge in their respective districts.
The appointments include:
- 353 Special Survey Assistant Settlement Officers
- 758 Special Survey Kanungos
- 742 Special Survey Clerks
- 8,035 Special Survey Amins
To ensure impartiality, all male candidates have been posted to divisions outside their home districts, while female candidates have been assigned to other districts within the state.
Addressing the gathering, CM Nitish Kumar emphasized the importance of this initiative in resolving land disputes, which he noted account for 60% of legal cases and often lead to conflicts. "We started this process in 2005, and began aerial photography in 2013. Our aim is to end land-related disputes and foster peace in society," the Chief Minister stated.
Kumar set an ambitious target for the completion of the survey by July 2025, urging the newly appointed staff to work diligently and swiftly. He stressed the role of District Magistrates and ministers-in-charge in monitoring the progress closely.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the historical context of the land survey initiative, recalling that the idea had been conceptualized long ago but is now coming to fruition. He expressed hope that resolving land disputes would promote harmony and brotherhood in the state.
This mass recruitment is seen as a crucial step in modernizing Bihar's land records and resolving long-standing property disputes. The success of this initiative could have far-reaching implications for social harmony and economic development in the state.
As Bihar embarks on this comprehensive land survey, all eyes will be on these new appointees and their ability to meet the challenging deadline set by the Chief Minister. The outcome of this massive undertaking could potentially transform land management and dispute resolution in Bihar for generations to come.
