RGCIRC Pledges Rs. 300 Crore Corpus to Bolster Cancer Care for Underprivileged

Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCIRC) is doubling down on its commitment to making quality cancer care accessible and affordable for all. At a recent conference in Delhi, the institute unveiled a comprehensive plan to foster partnerships and create a dedicated corpus fund to support underprivileged cancer patients.

Mr. Rakesh Chopra, Chairman of RGCIRC, highlighted the institute's unique legacy as a beacon of philanthropic endeavor. Founded with a mere Rs. 49 lakh, RGCIRC has grown into a leading cancer care facility. He announced an ambitious goal: to expand the existing Rs. 100 crore corpus to Rs. 300 crore within three years. The interest earned will be exclusively used to subsidize treatment for financially disadvantaged patients.

Technological Prowess, Equitable Care:

Mr. DS Negi, CEO of RGCIRC, emphasized the institute's unwavering commitment to providing equitable treatment for all. He elaborated on RGCIRC's pioneering spirit, showcasing cutting-edge technologies like HIFU, robotic surgery, and cyberknife. Dr. Sudhir Rawal, MD, further highlighted the institute's dedication to innovation, including ongoing efforts to develop indigenous Car T cell therapy.

A new booklet titled "A Sun Rises in Cancer" was launched, chronicling RGCIRC's remarkable journey in philanthropy and offering insights into its charitable endeavors. The event also brought together medical experts, industry leaders, and corporate representatives to discuss the crucial role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in bridging the gap in cancer care access.

Distinguished guests like Dr. Sayed Humayun Jafri, along with representatives from leading corporations like EIL, BPCL, IOCL, and ONGC, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting RGCIRC's mission. The event emphasized the collective responsibility to ensure equitable access to quality cancer care, particularly for those facing financial constraints.

Established in 2019, the Department of Philanthropic Services plays a key role in coordinating patient welfare programs, collaborating with other institutions and NGOs. RGCIRC's reach extends beyond Delhi, supporting patients from neighboring states and even internationally through crowdfunding initiatives. Organizations like Shree Ram Krishna Sewa Sansthan, Relaxo India Ltd, Yuvraj Singh Foundation, and the India Cancer Society are among the many partners standing by RGCIRC in its mission.

Founded in 1996, RGCIRC is one of India's leading cancer treatment centers. With over 3.5 lakh lives touched, it continues to be a beacon of hope and healing for patients across the nation.
