Chandigarh: The Punjab government's ambitious 'Aam Aadmi Clinics' project has achieved a significant milestone with over 2 crore individuals availing treatment in just two years.

Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh revealed that 2 crore people have received free treatment from the 842 Aam Aadmi Clinics since August 15, 2022. These clinics provide free treatment, 80 types of free medicines, and 38 types of free diagnostic tests.

The clinics cater to around 58,900 patients daily, with an average of 70 patients visiting each clinic every day. Out of the 2 crore visitors, 90 lakh are unique visits, while 1.10 crore are re-visits, indicating trust and satisfaction among patients.

The clinics have reduced out-of-pocket healthcare expenses for individuals by Rs 1030 crores. Notably, 55% of OPD visits are by females, indicating a shift towards gender-inclusive healthcare.

Visits by age group include 11.20% by Children and Adolescents (0-12 age group), 68.86% by Adults (13-60 age group), and 19.94% by Senior citizens (Above 60).

Each clinic is equipped with IT infrastructure, ensuring complete digitization of registration, medical consultations, examinations, and prescriptions.
