FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup’22: VAR Will Debut In An Indian Age-Group Competition
The 2022 U-17 World Cup will be the third FIFA women's tournament to use VAR, following the 2022 U-20 World Cup in Costa Rica and the 2019 World Cup in France. The upcoming FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in India will see the premiere of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology, which will be introduced across the age group, soccer's world governing body FIFA announced on Tuesday. The All India Football Federation's (FIFA event) 11-day suspension has been lifted, and FIFA has approved it. It will take place in Bhubaneswar (Kalinga Stadium), Margao (JLN Stadium), and Navi Mumbai (DY Patil Stadium) from October 11 to October 30. "At the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, we will learn important and significant things about the abilities of the designated referees. Kari Seitz, FIFA's Head of Women's Refereeing, said, "We are delighted that VAR technology will also be utilised for the first time at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. As part of the Australia/New Zealand 2023 Journey project, FIFA stated that "this event will be another wonderful occasion to display the talents of the appointed VARs and continue the development of our female VARs." Four circumstances that can change the outcome of a game are supported by VAR technology: goals and fouls that lead to goals; penalties and fouls that lead to penalties; direct red card events; and mistaken identity.
