Rishab Shetty Faces Backlash After Criticizing Bollywood's Global Representation

On August 16, Rishab Shetty was awarded the 70th National Film Award for his performance in the action thriller film. After winning the National Award for his film, now the Kannada actor has done something, due to which he has now come under the target of netizens.
Rishab Shetty had taunted Bollywood and said that 'Bollywood shows India in a wrong way.' After this comment of his, Rishab Shetty has come under the target of trolls. Rishab is currently busy promoting his upcoming Kannada film 'Laughing Buddha' starring Pramod Shetty. During this time, he made this comment on Bollywood and created a controversy.
In his viral interview with Metro Saga, Rishab Shetty expressed his disappointment over the portrayal of India by Bollywood in international film events. Speaking in Kannada, the actor says- “Indian films, especially Bollywood, show India in a bad light. These art films are invited to global events and given a red carpet. My nation, my state, my language-my pride. Why not take it in a positive way globally and that's what I try to do.''
Rishabh Shetty's comment is getting a strong reaction from netizens. People have even called him a 'hypocrite' citing some scenes from Kantara. In one of Kantara's scenes, his character pinches a woman's waist without her consent. Citing this scene, Rishab has started being accused of having double standards.
Reacting to Rishabh Shetty's statement, a user wrote, 'What a jealous soul. Hardcore Bollywood hater. He requested Bollywood audiences to support his overrated film, which is full of problematic content.' Another wrote, 'Success is momentary, but pinching women's waist and attacking Bollywood is permanent.' After this video of Rishabh Shetty surfaced, users started proving that Bollywood is the only Indian film industry that is recognized internationally and has helped other Indian films gain global popularity.
