E-Waste Collection Hub at Mata Sundri College for Women: An Initiative of Panasonic India

Under the “Panasonic Harit Umang – Joy of Green” initiative, Panasonic India has taken a significant step to address the growing issues of electronic waste by launching an E-Waste Collection Drive. As part of this initiative, Panasonic India collaborated with Mata Sundri College for Women, selecting it as the central hub for e-waste collection across Delhi. The campaign targets all schools and colleges in the region, reflecting the institution’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

The primary goal is to raise awareness about proper e-waste disposal and promote environmental responsibility. E-waste, including discarded electronic devices, contains hazardous materials harmful to the environment if not properly recycled. By establishing a structured collection system, the drive aims to mitigate the environmental impact of e-waste and encourage responsible disposal practices.

The E-Waste Collection Drive launched on October 9, 2024, at Mata Sundri College premises. The college’s role as central collection centre was underscored, focusing on mobilizing schools and colleges across Delhi to participate.

Prof. Harpreet Kaur, Principal of Mata Sundri College for Women, emphasized student involvement, stating it is critical for success and instilling environmental consciousness.

Ms. Ritu Ghosh, Head of Corporate Affairs & Sustainability at Panasonic India, encouraged educational institutions to participate, highlighting Panasonic’s commitment to sustainability.

Dr. Uzma Nadeem, Convener of Earthcon: The Eco Club, was appointed Nodal Officer for the E-Waste Collection Hub.
