Delhi Police Conducts Mega Drug Destruction Event Under Leadership of Devesh Chandra Srivastava

Delhi Police has successfully conducted a mega drug destruction event, destroying 1,575 kilograms of ganja valued at approximately ₹15.75 crores. This event was part of the nationwide "Drug Disposal Fortnight" and aligns with the vision of 'Drug-Free India'.

The Delhi Police has been working rigorously to eradicate drugs from their roots, with initiatives like 'Operation Kavach' and various other narcotic detection operations. Over the past two years, the police force has destroyed a substantial amount of drugs, including 2,888 kg on December 21, 2022, 15,700 kg on June 26, 2023, 10,631 kg on February 20, 2024, and 10,601.192 kg on December 17, 2024. The total value of these destroyed drugs in the international market is estimated to be approximately ₹5,982 crores.

The "Drug Disposal Fortnight" is being conducted from January 11 to January 25, 2025, with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) set to dispose of over 44,792 kilograms of seized narcotics with a market value of ₹2,411 crore. This initiative aims to eliminate seized narcotics and send a strong message of zero tolerance towards drug abuse and trafficking.

The mega drug destruction event was held at Biotic Waste Solutions Pvt. Ltd. in New Delhi, in the presence of Sh. Sanjay Arora, Commissioner of Police, Delhi. The event was led by ACPs Sh. Anil Sharma and ACP Sh. Rajkumar, under the supervision of DCP/ANTF Ms. Apoorva Gupta, and overall supervision of Addl. CP/Crime Sh. Sanjay Bhatia and Joint CP/Crime Sh. Surender Kumar.

The Delhi Police's efforts to combat drug abuse and trafficking are a significant step towards achieving the vision of a 'Drug-Free India'. With unity and determination, the police force is committed to making Delhi and India safer and healthier.
