Bihar Chief Secretary Reviews Industrial Development in Muzaffarpur and Hajipur
Muzaffarpur/Hajipur, December 11: Bihar Chief Secretary, Amrit Lal Meena, undertook a comprehensive tour of industrial areas in Muzaffarpur and Hajipur on Tuesday. His visit included inspections of the mega food park, bag cluster, textile cluster, and a safety shoe unit in Hajipur.
During his inspection of the 143-acre mega food park in Motipur, Muzaffarpur, Meena directed officials to expedite the project and commence operations at the earliest. The park is currently under construction and will house two warehouses, a litchi chamber, a banana chamber, and 10 micro sheds for food processing activities.
At the bag cluster in the Bela industrial area, the Chief Secretary inquired about the work done by the Jeevika didis (women self-help group members) and the positive changes in their lives. With 42 out of 53 sheds allocated to Jeevika didis, the cluster is witnessing significant women empowerment. Each shed houses 25 machines for bag manufacturing. These women entrepreneurs have received financial assistance of ₹10 lakh each under the government's scheme. Amrit Lal Meena instructed officials to devise strategies to sell the bags produced by the Jeevika didis in Khadi malls and other private outlets.
The textile cluster, employing around 600 people, was also inspected. The unit produces T-shirts, jackets, and other garments for men, women, and children.
In Hajipur, Amrit Lal Meena visited "Competence Exports Private Limited", a company manufacturing safety shoes for the Russian army and exporting to England, the Netherlands, and France. The Chief Secretary observed the cutting, stitching, molding, and packaging processes.
Company representatives informed Amrit Lal Meena that they currently employ 300 artisans, including 200 women. The company is planning to expand its operations to manufacture gloves and army dresses, which will increase its workforce to 900.
Amrit Lal Meena suggested that the company explore opportunities in the Indian Army and domestic markets. He also directed all units to install solar systems on their rooftops and take necessary steps for cleanliness and maintenance in the industrial area.
The Chief Secretary commended the work of the Jeevika didis and emphasized the need for their skill development and maximum utilization of government schemes. He also visited the "Didi ki Rasoi" (sister's kitchen) and appreciated its operations.
